Registered and Board Certified Art Therapist
EMDR Trained Therapist
Jennifer Baney is a licensed professional counselor as well as a registered, board certified art therapist. She is a graduate of Marywood University, where she earned both her Bachelor of Arts in Art Therapy and her Master of Arts in Art Therapy.
Ms. Baney has a varied clinical experience including initiating a creative arts therapies program in a residential drug and alcohol facility, providing trauma-focused art therapy services to child survivors of abuse at a local Children’s Advocacy Center, and supporting children and families in their grief experiences through outpatient therapy services. Most recently, she has been providing art therapy services through school-based programs in Franklin and Adams counties as well as working in a private group practice.
Ms. Baney believes in the therapeutic value of building relationships and trust in the therapy session through secure and predictable therapy interventions. Ms. Baney primarily focuses on the therapeutic benefits of art therapy, both through the process of art making, and in the self-reflection of the art product. However, Ms. Baney also maintains a client-directed approach; she believes the best therapeutic approach is one in which the therapist and client together develop the path towards healing and resolution.
